SINEX_TRO
A SINEX_TRO file is a specialized extension of the SINEX format, designed for the exchange of tropospheric and meteorological parameters among various geodetic and atmospheric research communities. This format facilitates the consistent sharing of tropospheric data derived from diverse sources, including space geodetic techniques (e.g. GNSS, VLBI), numerical weather prediction models, radiosondes, and microwave radiometers.
SINEX_TRO content and structure
Each SINEX_TRO file includes detailed metadata blocks that describe site information, instrumentation, and data processing methodologies. SINEX_TRO also support extended GNSS station names, i.e. the format accommodates long station names (up to 9 characters), aligning with the RINEX 3 data format.
Beyond traditional zenith path delays, SINEX_TRO files can incorporate slant tropospheric delays, offering a more detailed representation of atmospheric conditions affecting signal propagation. The format is structured to support long-term time series data for individual stations, making it valuable for climate research and monitoring atmospheric trends over extended periods.
