GOCE’s GNSS data available at GSSC

The GNSS measurements of the ESA’s GOCE mission have joined the GSSC datasets. The Gravity Field and Steady-State Ocean Circulation Explorer (GOCE) mission was in orbit from March 2009 to November 2013.

The main payload was a high sensitive gradiometer which was supplemented with an onboard GPS receiver used as a satellite-to-satellite tracking instrument. The GPS receiver consisted in a 12-channel dual-frequency receiver capable to deliver pseudo-range and carrier-phase measurements at both GPS frequencies at 1 Hz rate.

Now, these measurements are available at GSSC providing a new set of GNSS measurements in RINEX format at low orbit (~268 km) supplementing the on-ground GNSS measurements already available in the GSSC.

Navigation data from other GNSS space users will be gradually integrated at the GSSC in support to scientific research.
